Pulses are the seeds of plants belonging to the family Leguminosae, with around 13,000 species it is the second largest in the plant kingdom and very important economically. Peas, beans and lentils are all known as pulses; they are valuable because they contain a higher percentage of protein than most other plant foods. Pulses are very good for our bodies being low in fat, high in fibre and protein with no cholesterol and plenty of nutrients! Basically, if you regularly include pulses in your diet, you’re likely to stay good and healthy.
